Lots of New Information in AP Article as Protest "Deadline" Draws Near

Lots of new information on the RNC from this AP article in tomorrow's Newsday. Among the highlights:

- Negotiations between UFP&J and the city "appear to have stalled." Police Chief Ray Kelly publicly accuses UFP&J leadership of "procrastinating."

- The city's delay in assessing permit requests has threatened plans by the "National Council of Arab Americans to stage an event for 75,000 people on the Great Lawn on Aug. 28 to protest alleged civil rights abuses."

- Other groups seeking permits include Code Pink, Not in Our Name, and the Green Party. Requested venues include the Great Lawn, the Brooklyn Bridge, Riverside Park, and Times Square.
