NYPD To Wear Wireless Helmet Videocams During RNC
From Engadget: "In preparation for next week’s Republican National Convention the Federal Protective Service is outfitting 200 police officers with special helmet-mounted surveillance cameras that can wirelessly beam a video feed back back to a control room so that service commanders can see exactly what’s going on in the streets and more effectively issue orders..."

We need wireless video streaming for actists so when our rights are abused on film the evidence can't just be confiscated from us.

Presumably if the cameras are standard Wifi the signal can be intercepted and recorded. Or possibly jammed.

I think as many people as possible should bring videocameras and film as much as they can. they can't confiscate EVERYONE's camera. In particular, anyone with a camera, and engaging in street protest should keep a lens on your own ranks. Violence and property damage are EXACTLY the Christmas presents the RNC is praying to their god for. Even if no one on our side starts it, these people have a long history of planting provocateurs into protesters' ranks. The police will be looking for the slightest excuse to crack heads, and it would be very easy to plant operatives in the protests and start violence.
make everyone who starts violence a film star! then we can compare their pictures with police rosters.....

Why in Gods name would protestors want to have their own cameras. That would be the biggest mistake they could make. Film your own, felonious activity. Brilliant, just brilliant.

Why would a protestor carry a camera? Hmmm...see Lewis Hine and Margaret Bourke-White.
A tactic to avoid confiscation (and, by the way, RNC gestapo is probably to slow to use this) is to have an obvious camera or cameras dangling from one's body. Maybe not as many as Hopper in "Apocalypse Now," but one or more. The decoys may be taken by shock troops, but not the unknown, ignored one kept in your crotch area. Cramped, yes, but worth it, and the hum of a film roll rewinding may result in a contented sigh. :-)
It helps not to bathe that day. You don't need to rub feces on yourself, but a funky nether region leads to a rather remedial rubdown when being frisked.
We really need to keep this "nice guy" out of office, along with the rest of his clan.
